WHAT IS WELLNESS

Wellness is the combination of 5 major aspects of life: health risks, physical activity, stress management, nutrition and weight management. It encompasses mental health, physical health and emotional health. Body, mind and environment need to learn to live together harmoniously in order to ensure total wellness. Common stimuli that lead to body, mind and environmental imbalances include simple, everyday tasks that we usually don't think about.

Do you find yourself falling victim to any of these?

  • Sitting at a desk - usually leads to slouching causing serious posture imbalances resulting in tight muscles, headaches, chronic back, knee, shoulder and hip pain and other disorders such as carpal tunnel syndrome
  • Regularly skipping meals because of a busy schedule - makes your metabolism slow down during the day and usually an unhealthy choice of food is made when it is finally time to eat, both contributing to potential weight gain and weight gain complications
  • Eating comfort foods to deal with stress or unhappiness - creates a tired feeling and then the skipping of physical activity for multiple days in a row (or more…)
  • Little or no physical activity due to lack of motivation or time restraints - lack of mental awareness, heart problems, circulatory problems, immune system suppression, a decrease in muscle mass which causes a multitude of problems such as a decreased metabolism, joint and muscle dysfunction and chronic pain
  • Not drinking enough water - causes chronic dehydration resulting in 2% or more loss in brain function, dry, itchy skin, dry eyes, stiff joints, tiredness, decrease in activity performance and a decrease in organ function making them more susceptible to disease and less able to function, repair and defend themselves
  • Many, many more…

You as an individual have choices. You can either think about all these things on your own or you can get a Personal Health Advisor to think about them for you.

GOOD TO KNOW

The health and wellness field is relatively new. Therefore, there is information coming out everyday on ways to help you reach your goals. There are hundreds of magazines with experts writing thousands of articles. The strange thing is that all of the articles do not agree with each other.

There are many publishers who are only interested in selling a good story or a good idea for the good of a magazine, and not for the good of wellness. A Personal Health Advisor has the ability, the training and the resources to filter out false information and only pass on what is reliable and helpful for LONG-TERM benefits.

Things progress so rapidly that even if you were wellness savvy a few years ago, chances are a lot of new and improved information has come out since then. Your job is to challenge yourself and the media with questions at all times. Don't automatically believe everything you hear even if it is new and hot off the shelves. Do your research!! Or, of course, have a Personal Health Advisor do it for you.

FAMILY HISTORY

Family history plays a huge part in health risk. HOWEVER, IT IS NOT THE END OF THE WORLD if you have a family history of life threatening diseases. Your body will respond to whatever you do to it. There are thousands of preventative methods to avoid suffering from our ancestors' development.

Increasing your own health and well being is the best way to fight disease and sickness. You will only benefit from becoming healthier. It is just a matter of finding the right solution for you and applying it. A Personal Health Advisor can help you and motivate you to do that.

An extensive family history and personal health history is required for the use and consideration of your Personal Health Advisor. This information is vital to a personalized program design to help you live better, safer and more efficiently.
